National News – African Democratic Congress factional chairman, Nafi’u Bala, has strongly denied reports alleging he expressed regret over his role in the party’s internal crisis and claimed his life was under threat.

The rebuttal came on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Gombe State, where Bala addressed what he described as a false and damaging publication circulating in the media.

Bala, who contested as the ADC governorship candidate in 2023, said the report misrepresented his position and falsely attributed statements to him.

According to him, he never granted any interview suggesting regret or fear for his safety, nor did he authorise anyone to speak on his behalf.

He insisted the claims were fabricated to mislead the public and weaken his credibility amid the party’s ongoing leadership dispute.

Explaining the situation, Bala noted that his actions within the party followed constitutional procedures after the resignation of former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, on July 2, 2025.

He emphasised that the crisis escalated due to internal disagreements but denied distancing himself from the process or expressing fear.

He also dismissed claims of threats to his life or that of his family, describing them as baseless narratives designed to attract sympathy and influence public perception.

Addressing mentions of Leke Abejide, Bala clarified that he never accused the lawmaker of abandonment or inducement, though he acknowledged Abejide’s exit as a loss to the party.

On how the issue is being handled, Bala reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing justice through legal channels.

He disclosed that the matter is currently before the Federal High Court and ruled out any possibility of an out-of-court settlement.

According to him, his stance is guided strictly by the ADC constitution, not personal or political gain.

Bala concluded by urging the public and media to disregard what he termed propaganda, warning those behind the publication to desist from spreading defamatory content.
