ADC Disputes Will Strengthen Party – Chieftain

National News – A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress in Edo State, Fawaz Muhammad, has said ongoing disagreements within the party will ultimately strengthen its structure and unity.

Speaking on Wednesday in Edo State, Muhammad, who is contesting for a seat in the State House of Assembly, explained that the internal issues reflect a growing political platform rather than a failing one.

He noted that the disagreements stem from coordination, communication, inclusion, and alleged infiltration challenges, adding that such tensions are common in developing political organisations.

Muhammad stated that the situation involves key stakeholders across ward, state, and national levels, stressing that the party must address these concerns with sincerity and collective responsibility.

He emphasized that resolving internal conflicts through dialogue and unity will position the ADC as a stronger opposition force ahead of future elections.

Addressing the broader political climate in Nigeria, he highlighted the role of the ruling All Progressives Congress in shaping democratic processes.

According to him, the party in power must ensure fairness, avoid actions that could destabilize the political environment, and allow opposition parties to function freely without undue interference.

He argued that democracy thrives best when opposition voices are protected rather than suppressed.

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to maintain transparency, credibility, and independence in overseeing electoral activities.

Muhammad stressed that public trust in electoral processes—from party primaries to general elections—is essential for democratic stability and national development.

Reflecting on the current situation, he urged party members and leaders to embrace unity, accountability, and responsibility.

He concluded that the ADC’s ability to overcome its internal disagreements will determine its strength and relevance in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
