National News – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, detailing when, where, and how aspirants will emerge for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, outlining a structured process designed to guide members nationwide.
According to the schedule, the sale of nomination forms will run from May 5 to May 10, 2026, while submission is fixed for May 11 to May 13.
Screening of aspirants will hold between May 14 and May 15, with results released on May 17.
Appeals are slated for May 18 and May 19, while the final list of cleared candidates will be published on May 20.
The party disclosed that primary elections will begin on May 21, covering State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats at the ward level.
Governorship primaries will follow on May 22, while the presidential primary is scheduled for May 25, 2026.
A National Executive Committee meeting will take place on May 26, culminating in a Special National Convention on May 27 for ratifications.
On costs, the ADC fixed its presidential nomination form at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State Assembly at ₦3 million.
The party explained that the pricing aligns with efforts to remain competitive, similar to the All Progressives Congress.
To encourage inclusiveness, the ADC introduced discounts—50 percent for youths and 25 percent for women and persons with disabilities.
However, the process comes amid internal challenges following a Supreme Court of Nigeria ruling that reinstated the faction linked to David Mark, as the party continues to manage leadership disputes and defections.
