National News – Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have dismissed reports of division within the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
They reaffirmed their support for the forum’s chairman, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.
The governors made their position known after a closed-door meeting held on Friday at the Imo Lodge.
The meeting was attended by 18 APC governors who gathered to address rumours of a leadership crisis within the group.
The clarification followed widespread speculation that a leadership change had taken place within the forum.
Reports had emerged on Thursday night claiming that Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah had been announced as the new leader of the governors’ body.
However, the APC governors strongly denied the claim and maintained that Uzodinma remains the chairman.
They also confirmed that Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani continues as the deputy chairman of the forum.
Governors from Ondo, Kaduna, Taraba, Sokoto, Ebonyi, Borno, Lagos, Kogi, Kano, Yobe, Kebbi, Benue and Jigawa states attended the meeting.
Nasarawa State was represented by its deputy governor.
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas briefly attended before leaving after a short meeting with the host governor.
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris moved the motion for a vote of confidence in the forum’s leadership.
He stated that there was no internal disagreement capable of justifying the reported division.
According to Idris, the governors remain united and focused on collective goals.
He also reiterated their support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after the meeting, Uba Sani described the reports of crisis as unfortunate and misleading.
He said the governors were more united now than at any other time.
Uzodinma also assured Nigerians that the forum remains focused on governance and development priorities.
He added that the governors are strengthening social intervention programmes across their states.
The meeting ended with a unanimous resolution to maintain unity and improve governance performance.
The governors also pledged continued support for the ruling party ahead of future elections.
