National News – The spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Stephen Ogundipe, has secured the party’s ticket to contest for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC primary election for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I was held on Thursday in Lagos, where party delegates and members voted to choose their candidate for the state assembly race.
Ogundipe defeated former Education Secretary, Mayowa Alakija, after polling 11,939 votes out of 15,030 votes cast during the exercise.
Alakija scored 3,086 votes, according to the official results announced after collation from all five wards in the constituency.
The primary election was conducted at the Legislative Hall under what party leaders described as a peaceful and orderly atmosphere.
The collation officer, AbdulRasaq Omolaja, formally declared Ogundipe as the APC flag bearer for the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly election.
Supporters, party stakeholders, youth groups and women associations celebrated the outcome shortly after the announcement.
Many party members described the victory as a reflection of Ogundipe’s grassroots support and performance as a lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I.
Speaking after his victory, Ogundipe thanked party leaders, delegates and supporters for their confidence in his leadership.
He also praised his opponent and other aspirants for participating peacefully in the contest, saying the process strengthened internal democracy within the APC.
The lawmaker called for unity among party members ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging all supporters to work together for the success of the party.
He further pledged inclusive representation and continued development projects for residents of the constituency if re-elected into office.
