National News – The Nigerian Army has laid to rest Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, Captain Ismail, and other soldiers who lost their lives during a recent insurgent attack in Borno State.

The burial ceremony, held at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri on April 15, 2026, was conducted with full military honours, reflecting the nation’s respect for their sacrifice.

The fallen troops were among those killed during a coordinated assault by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters on military positions in Benisheikh, a key location along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.

The incident adds to the ongoing security concerns in the North-East region.

Military authorities described the burial as solemn and emotionally charged, highlighting the deep sense of loss felt across the armed forces and the nation.

The ceremony brought together senior officials, including Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa, alongside grieving families and fellow service members.

The Army paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, describing them as dedicated patriots who remained committed to protecting the country’s peace and unity.

Their service records were read in honour of their contributions, while prayers were offered for their souls.

The ceremony also highlighted the enduring sacrifices made by members of the armed forces in the face of persistent insurgency.
