Army Promotes Five Officers to Lieutenant Colonel

National News – The Nigerian Army has officially promoted five senior officers to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, marking a significant milestone in their military careers.

The promotion, approved by the Army Council, took place on April 13, 2026, at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Education Corps in Yaba, Lagos.

The ceremony recognized the officers’ dedication, professionalism, and years of exemplary service to the nation.

The event was presided over by Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, Acting Corps Commander Education, who decorated the officers and commended their commitment.

According to him, the promotion reflects their consistent performance and adherence to military standards.

He emphasized that the new rank comes with increased responsibility, leadership demands, and the need for continuous development within the evolving operational environment of the Army.

The promoted officers include Lieutenant Colonels Samuel Samson, James Oko Egwu, Paul Mathew Ambore, Ismail Ajibola Usman, and Hamza Modibbo Ahmad.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Samson expressed gratitude to the Army leadership for the confidence placed in them.

He assured that they would uphold professionalism and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the Corps and the broader Nigerian Army.

The ceremony attracted senior military officers, colleagues, family members, and well-wishers who gathered to witness the decoration.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, was also acknowledged for approving the promotions, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to rewarding merit and service.
