National News – The Nigerian Army has sanctioned a soldier serving under Operation Hadin Kai for spreading what it described as misleading claims about poor feeding conditions among troops in the North-East.
The development was disclosed on Saturday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-East, Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, following an internal investigation into a viral social media post.
According to the Army, the incident involved a personnel who shared an image allegedly showing inadequate food rations.
However, findings from the probe revealed that the image did not accurately represent the full ration issued to the soldier at the time.
The Army stated that the action violated military conduct rules, prompting disciplinary measures in line with the Armed Forces Act.
The Army further stressed that feeding arrangements for troops meet approved standards and are monitored through established food committees comprising personnel across ranks.
These committees ensure transparency in meal planning, preparation, and distribution, even under challenging operational conditions.
Uba added that welfare remains a top priority, with provisions often enhanced during festive periods such as Sallah and Easter to boost morale.
He also urged personnel to use official internal channels to address grievances rather than resorting to public disclosures that may undermine military operations.
The Army warned that the spread of false information could negatively impact national security efforts and called on the public to rely on verified sources for accurate updates.
