Bayelsa Residents Sound Alarm Over Rising Cultism, Urge Government Action

Say no to cultism - Citizens Reports

By Franca Justice – Citizens Reports

Good afternoon, my name is Franca Justice. I live here in Bayelsa State.

You know, this cultism issue is becoming alarming — alarming in the sense that rural areas are being affected, and the old people, the young, you know, are being affected.

The future of the youth is being affected. It’s not something that the government should just sit down and watch.

I’m happy there are some measures that have been put in place to curb these activities in the state.

But I’ll still plead that the government should do more, you know, because just recently at Otuoke, we had a situation where two groups clashed, and all of that — it’s not funny.

You know, some parents send their kids to different states to school, and then when they start hearing these things, they get panicked. It’s not encouraging for a state.

You know, we want visitors to come to our state. We’ve been told Bayelsa is one of the most peace-loving states in the country, so we shouldn’t let people doubt that fact about us.

I really appeal to the government to do something about this cultism.

Now, people always have this belief that when elections are coming up, these boys start showcasing themselves and all of that.

So we are pleading that peace is priceless. We need peace in Bayelsa State.

When you hurt your brother because of some conflicts, it will affect the next person on the streets, because we are supposed to be one, you know.

So, I pray for peace, and that’s the most important thing. Thank you.
