National News – Dara claimed victory with Bangaranga, a high-energy dance track blending modern pop and traditional Kukeri-inspired choreography.

She scored 516 points from jury and public votes combined, securing Bulgaria’s first win.

The United Kingdom finished last with one point, continuing a difficult run in the contest.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 took place in Vienna, Austria, featuring 35 countries in a live televised final.

Bulgaria led with 516 points, while Israel placed second, Romania third, Australia fourth, and Italy fifth.

The United Kingdom finished last with one point, marking another disappointing result.

The event also saw protests linked to Israel’s participation and minor technical disruptions during Czechia’s performance.

Dara’s victory surprised bookmakers after she was not considered a frontrunner before the final.

Her staging combined fast-paced choreography, electronic beats, and Kukeri-inspired masked dance traditions.

She said Bangaranga represents emotional strength, unity, and overcoming anxiety, which resonated strongly with voters across Europe.

The United Kingdom’s entry, Look Mum No Computer, performed Eins, Zwei, Drei, a synth-driven track that failed to connect with voters or juries.

This continues the UK’s recent poor Eurovision record, with repeated last-place finishes since 2020 and limited public support.

Israel finished second amid political controversy and audience protests, while Romania and Australia completed the top four with strong televote support.

Italy secured fifth place with a nostalgic pop performance, rounding out a competitive and closely scored top tier in the Eurovision 2026 final.

This year’s contest in Vienna marked a milestone 70th anniversary celebration of Eurovision, featuring dramatic staging, technical issues, and global political tension.
