National News – Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot has publicly apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila over political disagreements linked to the Lagos State House of Assembly crisis.
Elliot made the apology during a television interview on Friday, admitting that misunderstandings may have happened during political engagements within the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The apology comes months after tensions emerged over the Lagos Assembly leadership tussle, which reportedly created friction among top APC figures in Lagos.
Gbajabiamila had earlier revealed that President Bola Tinubu questioned him over intelligence reports allegedly linking Elliot to moves surrounding the speakership dispute. Gbajabiamila denied the allegations at the time.
Speaking during the interview, Elliot described Gbajabiamila as his political mentor and senior brother, saying he learned much of his political experience from him.
He explained that emotions and political misunderstandings may have contributed to the fallout between them.
The Surulere lawmaker openly appealed for forgiveness, stressing that no offence was intentional.
According to him, “To err is human, to forgive is divine,” while asking Gbajabiamila to forgive him for any perceived wrongdoing connected to the political crisis.
Elliot also extended an apology to the woman he described as the “matriarch of Surulere,” expressing regret if his actions or comments had caused offence during the political dispute.
Despite the controversy, he maintained that his focus remains on strengthening the APC and delivering democratic dividends to residents of Surulere.
The Lagos Assembly crisis triggered internal political tensions within the APC before party leaders and stakeholders intervened to restore calm.
Elliot insisted that his achievements and constituency projects in Surulere remain visible to residents despite the political disagreements.
