National News – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, May 15, 2026, arraigned social media influencer Blessing CEO (Okoro Blessing Nkiruka) at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, over an alleged N36 million fraud case.
The EFCC accused her of obtaining money by false pretence and converting funds linked to a disputed duplex lease in Lekki, Lagos State.
The alleged offence reportedly occurred between July 14 and 17, 2024.
The commission said Mrs Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye paid N36 million for a six-bedroom duplex at No. 1B Tunbosun Osobu Street, off Kuboye Road, Lekki.
It claimed the property lease representation was false.
During the hearing, Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to the charges. Her lawyer told the court that N24 million had already been refunded to the complainant.
The defence also requested time to complete repayment and settle the matter out of court. However, the EFCC opposed any private settlement affecting the criminal trial.
Justice D.I. Dipeolu ruled that the Federal Government is the complainant in the case. He stated that private negotiations cannot stop criminal proceedings.
The judge ordered the defendant to take her plea and proceed with trial arrangements. The court also directed that bail conditions be addressed accordingly.
The EFCC said the charges fall under the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, and provisions of the Criminal Code Act.
Blessing CEO was subsequently remanded in EFCC custody pending the perfection of bail conditions.
The case was adjourned till June 5, 2026, for trial commencement in Lagos.
The case has drawn public attention due to allegations involving partial refund and claims of fraudulent property leasing linked to a social media personality.
