National News – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dare Bejide, has vowed to run a focused, issue-based campaign ahead of the June 20, 2026 election.

A former Nigerian High Commissioner to Canada and Secretary to the State Government, Bejide emphasized that the party will avoid jamborees, crowd rentals, or rallies, focusing instead on presenting practical solutions to residents’ challenges.

He condemned the alleged defacing and removal of ADC campaign posters by agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in Ado Ekiti, Bejide expressed confidence that public dissatisfaction with the APC government would favor the ADC.

He highlighted gaps in infrastructure, poor governance, and the lack of public trust in state leadership.

“People feel the government exists only to collect funds from Abuja and distribute them. We aim to restore citizens’ confidence by ensuring government presence is felt in all sectors,” he said.

Bejide also stressed that the ADC campaign will be peaceful and free from personal attacks.

Addressing the APC’s calls for peaceful elections, Bejide described the appeal as insincere, noting unresolved internal disputes within the ruling party.

“In our party, primaries were well-contested, and all candidates support our campaign. But the APC is still entangled in court cases,” he added.

Bejide urged the APC to ensure a non-violent atmosphere before, during, and after the elections, while promising that the ADC will continue engaging traditional institutions to uphold fairness.

Bejide confirmed that campaign and strategic committees for the election will soon be unveiled.

He called on voters to consider ADC’s commitment to addressing systemic issues and improving Ekiti residents’ welfare, arguing that a government’s true presence is measured by service delivery, not political rhetoric.

The ADC candidate reiterated that his campaign’s primary focus would be transparent governance, infrastructure development, and promoting citizens’ confidence in public institutions.
