National News – Former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Ibrahim Kashim, has officially picked the Nigeria Democratic Congress expression of interest form to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.
Kashim announced the development on Friday, describing it as the beginning of his journey to seek the mandate of the people ahead of the next general elections.
The former government official said his ambition is focused on improving governance, strengthening economic growth, and creating better opportunities for residents across the state.
According to him, the decision was inspired by encouragement from youths, women, workers, traders, farmers, and community leaders who believe Bauchi can achieve greater progress through responsible leadership.
Kashim explained that his campaign agenda would prioritise education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and workers’ welfare.
He also promised to promote unity and ensure that every citizen benefits from inclusive governance if elected governor in 2027.
Kashim said the move was necessary to build a stronger political structure capable of delivering development and prosperity to the people of Bauchi State.
He added that his aspiration is driven by a genuine commitment to public service and sustainable development.
The governorship hopeful recently defected from the Social Democratic Party to the Nigeria Democratic Congress on May 4, 2026.
He noted that the switch was aimed at strengthening his political platform while maintaining his core values and dedication to serving the people.
Political observers believe Kashim’s entry into the race could reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.
His declaration has already attracted attention from supporters and party stakeholders across the state.
