National News – A former Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Mohammed Yusuf, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yusuf made the announcement on Saturday during a well-attended event at LGEA Osisi Primary School Field, where party loyalists and supporters gathered to witness the unveiling of his political ambition and manifesto.

Speaking at the event, Yusuf explained that his decision to run was driven by a desire to bring governance closer to the people and strengthen development efforts already underway in the constituency.

He stated that his focus would be on delivering effective representation, improving infrastructure, and creating economic opportunities for residents.

According to him, his experience in public service positions him to address pressing needs within the constituency.

He highlighted key areas of his campaign, including road development, youth empowerment, education, and access to clean water.

Yusuf emphasised plans to invest in vocational training, ICT development, and startup support to equip young people with practical skills.

He also identified the revitalisation of the Osara Dam as a priority project to ensure reliable access to potable water across communities.

On governance, Yusuf assured constituents of transparency, accountability, and regular engagement if elected.

He promised to serve as a bridge between the government and the people, ensuring their voices are heard and reflected in policy decisions.

He noted that his resignation from the state cabinet in March 2026 complied with electoral laws requiring public officials to step down before seeking elective office.

Stakeholders and supporters at the event expressed confidence in his candidacy and pledged their backing for the 2027 elections.

Yusuf maintained that his vision centres on inclusive development, empowerment, and sustainable growth for the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency.
