Four Imo Reps Lose APC Tickets

National News – Four serving members of the House of Representatives from Imo State lost their return tickets during the All Progressives Congress primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The primaries were held on Saturday using the Option A4 voting system across the state’s 10 federal constituencies.

The affected lawmakers are Matthew Nwogu of Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala, Miriam Odinaka Onuoha of Okigwe South, Harrison Anozie Nwadike of Isu/Njaba/Nkwerre/Nwangele, and Emeka Martins Chinedu of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte.

Several new candidates emerged from the exercise. Ngozi Pat-Ekeji won the Aboh/Ngor-Okpala ticket, while Chukwudi Anyanwuocha secured Ahiazu/Ezinihitte. Sandra Inyama also emerged for Ideato North/South.

Others include Canice Moore Nwachukwu Omeogo for Orlu/Orsu/Oru East, Jonas Okeke for Okigwe South, and Uchenna Agasu for Okigwe North.

Dibiagwu Eugene won Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West, while Cosmos Maduba clinched Nkwerre/Nwangele/Isu/Njaba.

Akarachi Amadi emerged for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru, while Tochi Okere secured the Owerri Federal Constituency ticket.

Before the primaries, Hope Uzodinma assured party stakeholders that the process would respect zoning arrangements and fairness principles. He stated this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri.

Uzodinma explained that the Option A4 voting system was adopted to ensure transparency, credibility, and wider participation among APC members.

The governor also revealed that nine aspirants bought forms for the senatorial primaries, while 107 others obtained forms for House of Assembly contests.

He added that women and youths would receive priority consideration during the process.

Uzodinma urged aspirants to accept the outcome peacefully, noting that elections naturally produce winners and losers.
