Nollywood actress and reality TV personality Annie Macaulay Idibia has addressed public speculation about her family life, saying she does not consider herself a single mother despite her separation from legendary Nigerian singer 2Baba.
The actress shared a reflective message on her Instagram page, explaining that she sees herself as “a single woman raising two kids” rather than fitting into the traditional label of a single mum.
According to Annie, the focus of motherhood should not be marital status but emotional presence and authenticity.
She emphasised that her children need a happy and fulfilled mother more than they need a married one.
“My children don’t need me married,” the message read. “They need me alive, true, and free.”
The Nollywood star also rejected stereotypes commonly associated with single mothers, which often portray them as overwhelmed, struggling or limited.
She described her journey as one of growth, healing and rebuilding her life with positivity rather than bitterness.
Annie noted that her children are witnessing her personal transformation as she creates a healthier and more joyful environment for them.
She believes that leading with peace and emotional stability is one of the greatest gifts a parent can offer.
Her comments come more than a year after the widely publicised breakup between her and 2Baba, whose real name is Innocent Idibia.
The couple ended their marriage in January 2025 after the singer publicly announced their separation.
They share two daughters together.
Since the split, both have moved forward with different paths.
Reports indicated that Annie focused on personal healing and self-care, while 2Baba later got engaged to Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
In recent months, Annie has documented a new chapter in her life that includes wellness retreats, self-reflection and renewed focus on raising her children.
By redefining the label often attached to single parenting, Annie says she is simply a woman rising and building a peaceful life for herself and her daughters.
