Turkish giants Galatasaray have left Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen out of their squad for the Turkish Cup fixture against Alanyaspor as the club carefully manages player workload during a demanding period of the season.
The Istanbul club has already secured qualification from Group A in the Ziraat Turkish Cup and will aim to complete the group stage with a perfect record after winning their first three matches.
However, the coaching staff decided to give several key players “active rest,” including Osimhen, to keep the squad fresh for upcoming crucial fixtures.
Galatasaray Managing Tight Match Schedule
Galatasaray are currently navigating an intense run of fixtures across multiple competitions.
Over the next few weeks, the team faces six matches in just 19 days as they continue their push in the Süper Lig while also preparing for a high-profile knockout clash in the UEFA Champions League.
The Turkish champions are chasing a fourth consecutive league title and recently secured a dramatic qualification for the Champions League round of 16 after overcoming Juventus in the previous stage.
Despite being rested for the cup match, Osimhen enters the break in strong form.
The Nigerian forward scored and assisted in Galatasaray’s recent 3–1 league victory over Alanyaspor, highlighting his importance to the team’s attacking lineup.
Osimhen Focused on Crucial Fixtures Ahead
Looking ahead, Galatasaray face a critical domestic test with an away derby against fierce rivals Beşiktaş.
The result could play a major role in the league title race, especially with contenders Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor closely following.
The club will then turn attention to the Champions League round of 16, where they will face English side Liverpool F.C. in a highly anticipated two-legged tie.
Osimhen has urged his teammates to remain focused as the decisive phase of the campaign approaches.
According to the Nigerian international, the upcoming fixtures will play a major role in determining the success of their season across domestic and European competitions.
With key matches on the horizon, Galatasaray’s decision to rest Osimhen reflects a strategic approach aimed at keeping their star striker fresh for the battles that could define their season.
