National News – Reno Omokri has drawn praise after successfully hoisting the Nigerian flag at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain.
The symbolic act, celebrated by religious and civic leaders, has been described as a strong display of patriotism and national pride meant to project a positive image of Nigeria to the global community.
The Corps Commanding Officer of the Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps, Chaplain Daniel Joe Alimi, commended Omokri’s action, calling it an inspiring gesture that reminds Nigerians of the importance of unity and national identity.
According to Alimi, raising the Nigerian flag above the clouds of Mount Kilimanjaro represents more than a personal accomplishment; it is a declaration that the country must always be lifted in dignity, honour, and international recognition.
Alimi’s message was conveyed through the corps’ Public Relations Officer, Chaplain Daniel Ocholongwa, who described the achievement as a proud moment for Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
He emphasized that acts like Omokri’s reinforce the need for citizens to promote Nigeria positively on the global stage.
The chaplain also urged political leaders, Christian communities, youth groups, and citizens across all sectors to emulate such patriotic commitment.
He encouraged Nigerians to become ambassadors of hope, unity, and progress by highlighting the nation’s achievements rather than amplifying negative narratives.
While acknowledging ongoing challenges such as terrorism, banditry, and other security threats, Alimi stressed that these difficulties should not be used to damage the country’s reputation.
Instead, he called for collective responsibility in strengthening national pride and promoting constructive dialogue about Nigeria’s development.
The chaplain reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to fostering patriotism, moral leadership, and national service.
He expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its challenges and continue to move toward peace, unity, and progress.
Omokri’s Kilimanjaro feat has since sparked conversations online about patriotism and national image, with supporters describing the act as a powerful reminder that Nigerians can still promote their country positively on the international stage.
