National News – Iran has issued a stern ultimatum to the United States, demanding acceptance of its 14-point Middle East peace proposal or face diplomatic failure.

The statement follows renewed tensions after Washington rejected Tehran’s latest counteroffer and described the fragile ceasefire as being on “life support” since April 8, 2026.

The development escalates already strained US-Iran relations amid ongoing war negotiations.

Iran’s parliamentary national security spokesperson, Ebrahim Rezaei, said lawmakers are considering raising uranium enrichment to 90 percent if the United States resumes military action.

Chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated on X that Washington must recognise Iran’s rights under its proposal or “face repeated failure,” warning that delays would cost American taxpayers more.

Iran’s proposal reportedly calls for ending hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, lifting the US naval blockade on Iranian ports, and releasing frozen Iranian assets abroad.

Meanwhile, the United States insists that Iran transfer its enriched uranium stockpile out of the country, a key sticking point in talks.

Iran, however, refuses relocation and maintains that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes, though it admits enrichment levels remain negotiable.

Tensions have also affected global trade routes, with disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz raising concerns over energy prices and shipping security.

US officials have maintained a naval presence in the region as both sides trade warnings, leaving peace efforts deadlocked after previous rounds failed to produce a breakthrough.

Analysts say the situation reflects deep mistrust, with both sides using diplomatic pressure and military signalling.

The outcome of the negotiations is expected to shape regional stability and global energy markets in the coming months.

Diplomatic efforts continue amid rising geopolitical uncertainty.
