National News – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
According to the board, a total of 632,788 results are now available. The announcement was made on Friday through a statement issued by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, in Abuja.
Candidates who participated in the nationwide exam can now check their scores using the official SMS channels provided by the examination body.
JAMB explained that candidates can access their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to either 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number registered for the examination.
At this stage, the board clarified that only result viewing is enabled, while printing of result slips will be made available later.
The move is part of JAMB’s ongoing phased release process, ensuring proper verification and accuracy before full access is granted.
The board also issued a stern warning to candidates and parents against manipulating or falsifying result messages.
It revealed that some individuals have already attempted to alter their scores using artificial intelligence tools and other electronic means to deceive others.
JAMB emphasized that such actions are criminal offences and will be treated with strict legal consequences.
Highlighting enforcement efforts, the board disclosed that two candidates and one parent have already been arrested and are currently in custody for involvement in result falsification.
JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process, stressing that any candidate found guilty will face prosecution.
Furthermore, the board noted that the 2026 UTME exercise is still ongoing, and additional results will continue to be released in batches as processing is completed.
Candidates are therefore advised to remain patient and rely only on official channels for accurate information.
