National News – Health workers at Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti (FETHI), have congratulated Prof. Kolawole Ogundipe on his appointment as Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital by President Bola Tinubu.

Prof. Ogundipe, a consultant in plastic and reconstructive surgery and former CMD of Afe Babalola University Multi-System Hospital, was praised for his expertise and leadership qualities.

Health sector unions at FETHI expressed confidence that his tenure would elevate healthcare standards and make the facility a center of medical excellence in Ekiti State and beyond.

The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) at FETHI, led by Chairman Oje Oladeji and Secretary John Akinola, issued a statement commending Prof. Ogundipe’s appointment.

They highlighted his wealth of experience as crucial for inspiring excellence in healthcare delivery.

“Your leadership will undoubtedly shape the future of healthcare in Ekiti State and leave a lasting legacy,” the statement read.

JOHESU also extended congratulations to Prof. Ogundipe’s family, noting their support throughout his professional journey.

The previous CMD, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, completed two terms in December 2025, after which the hospital was temporarily managed by Dr. Olagoke Erinmope, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee.

JOHESU expressed readiness to collaborate with the new CMD to make FETHI a destination for quality healthcare services.

Stakeholders hope that Prof. Ogundipe’s tenure will focus on improving patient care, modernizing hospital facilities, and positioning FETHI as a leading tertiary health institution in the region.
