National News – Junior Pope’s wife, Jennifer Odonwodo, has recounted the heartbreaking moment she learned of her husband’s death, two years after the fatal boat accident.

She shared her emotional tribute on April 10, 2026, via Instagram, marking the anniversary of the incident that claimed the actor’s life in a river while returning from a film location in Nigeria in 2024.

According to Jennifer, the devastating news came shortly after 3pm while she was preparing for a photoshoot.

She described receiving a call informing her that the boat carrying her husband had capsized.

Initially hoping it was a prank, she rushed to the scene, only to witness a large crowd and the lifeless body of her husband being transported in a vehicle.

The tragic moment confirmed her worst fears.
Jennifer revealed that the shock severely affected her health, causing her blood pressure to spike above 210, leading to immediate hospitalisation.

She explained that she remained in denial for hours, clinging to hope that her husband would survive, especially after their last conversation about a meal he planned to eat later that evening.

The grieving mother of three further recounted how reality set in during the funeral, when pallbearers carried in his casket.

The moment, accompanied by ceremonial sounds, marked the painful confirmation of his death and shattered her lingering hope of a miracle.

In her tribute, Jennifer expressed gratitude for the strength to carry on, noting that despite the pain, she believes God has continued to care for her family.

She also honoured her late husband’s memory, describing him as a loving father and partner whose absence is deeply felt.

The late actor died on April 10, 2024, alongside colleagues when their boat capsized while returning from a film shoot.

His death sparked widespread grief across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
