National News – The Oyun Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State has declared support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and endorsed the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, as its preferred governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.

Speaking at the rally, Akanbi Olarenwaju said the endorsement of President Tinubu is based on his leadership direction and policy focus, which they believe aligns with the aspirations of the people.

He added that backing Danladi-Salihu as governor is driven by the call for equity and inclusiveness, especially for Kwara North, which has yet to produce a governor since the return of democracy in 1999.

Olarenwaju noted that since 1999, leadership in the state has rotated between Kwara Central and Kwara South.

He argued that allowing Kwara North to produce the next governor would promote fairness, strengthen unity and ensure balanced representation across the state.

He further maintained that the region has capable leaders and only needs the opportunity to lead.

He also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his leadership and developmental initiatives, adding that continuity is vital for sustained progress.

The endorsement signals early political alignment within the party as preparations begin ahead of the 2027 general elections.
