National News – A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, Olusola Moses, has called on governments at all levels to prioritise youth empowerment and sustainable job creation as a key strategy for tackling unemployment and reducing crime in Nigeria.

The political figure made the appeal during a large-scale empowerment programme organised for youths, women, and small-scale entrepreneurs in Oke-Ero Local Government Area.

The empowerment initiative, held in Iloffa, brought together more than 500 beneficiaries from different communities within the council area.

Participants included artisans, traders, transporters, and commercial motorcycle operators who received financial support to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

During the event, Moses, popularly known as Success, distributed cash grants ranging from N50,000 to N100,000 to selected beneficiaries.

According to him, empowering young people economically is one of the most effective ways to discourage involvement in criminal activities and promote community stability.

He explained that providing access to financial resources and business opportunities helps youths become self-reliant while contributing to economic growth at the grassroots level.

Moses noted that unemployment remains a major challenge in Nigeria and requires collaborative efforts from government institutions, political leaders, and private stakeholders.

Party leaders who attended the summit praised the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward grassroots development and youth inclusion in politics.

They encouraged beneficiaries to use the financial assistance wisely and invest it in productive ventures that can generate long-term income.

The grants were presented by several party officials, including the PDP State Youth Leader, Adio Friday Odunjo; the party spokesperson, Olusegun Olusola Adewara; and the PDP Senatorial Women Leader, Margaret Abegunde.

In addition to the cash support, Moses also presented a brand-new Toyota Sienna bus to a youth leader, Aina Julius Olusola, popularly called Lampard, in recognition of his loyalty and dedication to the political ideals of former Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Political analysts say grassroots empowerment programmes like this can strengthen community development while encouraging greater youth participation in leadership and democratic processes across Nigeria.
