National News – The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several religious centres and businesses across Lagos for violating environmental regulations.
The enforcement took place on Wednesday in multiple locations, including Oregun, Ikeja GRA, Agege Motor Road (Mangoro), Onipetesi Close, Meiran Road, Ajasa Command, Ejigbo Road, and Fola Agoro in Shomolu.
The crackdown targeted facilities accused of noise pollution, air pollution, and failure to comply with environmental standards.
Affected establishments include churches, poultry farms operating in residential areas, gas refilling plants, bakeries, media houses, and hospitality outlets.
Among those sealed were Otuska Nigeria Nutraceutical Company, B.B. Market Place (poultry), Mountain of Fire Ministries, an Anglican Church, VoliaGas, Asian Limited, Pen-Shen Limited, Sunshine Bakery, Wise FM, Akanchawa Spot Bar, and Assemblies of God Church (Restoration Chapel).
According to LASEPA, the action followed repeated inspections and warnings issued to the affected businesses, which they failed to heed.
The agency explained that the enforcement became necessary to protect public health and ensure compliance with environmental laws.
The General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, stated that noise pollution remains a serious threat to residents’ well-being and safety.
He emphasised that the agency will continue strict monitoring and enforcement to curb violations across Lagos.
Ajayi also urged business operators and religious organisations to obtain necessary environmental permits, install proper noise control systems, and adhere strictly to operational guidelines.
He warned that failure to comply would result in sanctions, including closure of facilities.
LASEPA reiterated its commitment to maintaining a cleaner, safer, and pollution-free environment in Lagos through continuous enforcement and public awareness.
