The Barcelona striker disclosed that he remains committed to international football despite Poland’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Lewandowski stated that he had already informed the coaching crew of his readiness to participate in the training camp scheduled to begin later this month.
According to reports, Poland coach Jan Urban is expected to unveil his squad for the friendly games against Ukraine and Nigeria on May 26, while the team’s training camp will commence two days later.
The match against Nigeria is expected to attract global attention as fans look forward to another showdown involving the experienced striker and the Super Eagles.
Lewandowski explained that his decision to join the June camp was also influenced by his desire to honour former coach Jacek Magiera.
Speaking in an interview with Eleven Sports, the forward said the camp would carry a different emotional significance because of the situation surrounding Magiera.
The upcoming clash will give Nigeria another opportunity to test its strength against a top European side as preparations continue for future international competitions.
