National News – Former Attorney General of the Federation and ex-Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has obtained the African Democratic Congress governorship nomination form ahead of the 2027 Kebbi State election.

Malami announced his ambition on Saturday, saying his decision was driven by worsening insecurity, poverty, poor healthcare, and declining education standards in the state.

The former minister explained that he could no longer remain silent while many residents of Kebbi State face hardship and fear.

According to him, thousands of children remain out of school, while many families continue to struggle with multidimensional poverty and limited access to social services.

Malami alleged that over 67 per cent of children between six and 15 years are currently out of school in the state.

He also claimed that more than 88 per cent of children are living in multidimensional poverty, describing the situation as one of the worst humanitarian crises in Nigeria.

Speaking on healthcare, the ADC governorship aspirant said maternal mortality remains a serious concern, especially in rural communities where access to antenatal care and medical services is poor.

He added that insecurity caused by banditry and kidnappings has forced many farmers to abandon their farmlands, affecting food production and local businesses.

Malami accused the current administration of focusing on misplaced priorities despite the growing challenges facing residents.

He declared what he described as a “State of Emergency on Misgovernance” and promised to prioritise security, education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment if elected governor in 2027.

The former AGF said his ambition is based on accountability, service, and sustainable development.

He also called on the people of Kebbi State to support his vision of rebuilding the state into a safer and more prosperous society.
