National News – Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday to lift the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium in London, thanks to a sensational second-half strike from Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghanaian winger scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute with a clever back-flick finish from Erling Haaland’s low cross, sealing City’s eighth FA Cup title and their second domestic trophy of the season.

The victory marked another major achievement for City manager Pep Guardiola, who has now won 20 trophies during his decade-long reign at the club.

City previously defeated Arsenal in the League Cup final earlier this year and remain in contention in the Premier League title race.

The match, played before a packed Wembley crowd, was tense and physical from the start.

City dominated possession for long spells, while Chelsea relied on counter-attacks and a deep defensive setup under interim coach Calum McFarlane.

Haaland missed an early chance before Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez denied the Norwegian striker late in the first half.

Chelsea also appealed for a penalty before halftime after Joao Pedro went down under pressure from Abdukodir Khusanov, but the referee waved play on.

City eventually found the breakthrough when Haaland surged into the penalty area and squared the ball to Semenyo, who produced a moment of brilliance with an improvised finish into the far corner.

The defeat adds to Chelsea’s disappointing campaign, with the London club struggling for consistency and facing growing frustration from supporters.

For City, however, the triumph reinforces Guardiola’s winning legacy and keeps alive hopes of ending the season with more silverware.
