National News – Omowunmi Aloba, widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, wants a DNA test on their son Liam to return a negative result.
The allegation was made during a Channels TV interview, amid ongoing disputes over paternity, inheritance and family tensions following Mohbad’s controversial death in Lagos on September 12, 2023.
The interview has intensified public discussion in Nigeria over the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam Aloba, as well as the long-running feud between Omowunmi and Joseph Aloba.
According to Omowunmi, the disagreement between both families began before Mohbad’s death and was rooted in internal disputes over family relations and the child’s naming ceremony.
She stated that what many online observers believe to be a posthumous conflict actually escalated earlier within the family.
Omowunmi further alleged that shortly after Mohbad’s death, Joseph Aloba focused conversations on the singer’s properties, royalties, and estate matters rather than emotional support.
She maintained that she has never opposed a DNA test but insists that her son is biologically Mohbad’s child.
Meanwhile, Joseph Aloba has consistently demanded a DNA test before approving final burial arrangements, insisting that clarity is needed over paternity.
The case has remained a subject of legal and public attention since 2023, following Mohbad sudden death at age 27, which triggered protests, autopsy reviews, and multiple court-related inquiries.
The ongoing dispute continues to shape conversations around inheritance rights, celebrity estates, and family reconciliation in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Observers note that the controversy highlights ongoing challenges in handling celebrity estates and paternity disputes in Nigeria’s public sphere, especially when social media amplifies family conflicts.
The matter remains unresolved as at May 2026, with calls for privacy, legal clarity, and possible mediation between both parties.
The story continues to generate reactions across entertainment and news platforms nationwide, reflecting wider concerns about trust, inheritance, and posthumous reputation management in high-profile case.
