National News – The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has congratulated Niger Delta ex-militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on the occasion of his 55th birthday, describing him as a courageous figure and symbol of resilience in the struggle for justice and equity in the region.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Delta State on Sunday by Comrade Charles Omusuku, National Spokesman, of MOSIEND.
Omusuku, in the statement, said Tompolo’s contributions to peace, stability and the protection of the rights of the Niger Delta people remain historic and worthy of celebration, noting that his leadership has continued to inspire generations across the region.
He noted that Tompolo has played a significant role in advocating for the development of the Niger Delta, adding that his commitment to the welfare of the people and the preservation of the Izon identity has earned him respect beyond the region.
The MOSIEND Spokesman further described the Niger Delta leader as a bridge builder whose influence has helped promote unity among ethnic nationalities in the region, while also encouraging peaceful engagement in addressing the challenges confronting oil-producing communities.
He noted that as Tompolo marks his 55th birthday, it is important to acknowledge his sacrifices, leadership and unwavering dedication to the Niger Delta cause, stressing that his impact continues to shape conversations around resource control, environmental justice and regional development.
Omusuku prayed for good health, long life and continued wisdom for the Niger Delta leader, expressing confidence that he would continue to play a vital role in advancing peace and sustainable development in the region.
