National News – A presidential aspirant of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Comrade Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, has pledged to deliver student-centred leadership if elected at the upcoming 2026 national convention.

Opeoluwa, popularly known as OPIANO, made this commitment after successfully completing the mandatory screening conducted by the Independent Convention Planning Committee in Abuja.

The aspirant, a PhD student at Federal University of Technology Akure, appeared before the Screening and Verification Sub-committee where he presented his credentials and reaffirmed his eligibility for the race.

He described the screening outcome as a significant milestone for his ambition and for efforts to reposition the student body.

Opeoluwa outlined his agenda, focusing on ending factional divisions within NANS, strengthening unity, and improving student welfare across tertiary institutions.

He stressed the importance of collaboration with Student Union Government leaders to address tuition challenges and enhance campus living conditions.

Campaigning under the IMPACT Movement with the slogan “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” he emphasised inclusive leadership that reflects the voices and interests of Nigerian students.

He added that his vision is anchored on transparency, independence, and effective representation.

The NANS national convention is scheduled to hold between May 20 and May 27, 2026, with delegates expected to elect new executives to lead the association.

Opeoluwa’s successful screening places him among key contenders as the race intensifies.
