Niger Completes Airlift of 2,281 Hajj Pilgrims

National News – The Niger State Government has completed the transportation of 2,281 intending pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.

The exercise, coordinated through the Niger Pilgrims Welfare Board, was concluded on Monday at the Bola Tinubu International Airport in Minna.

The pilgrims were drawn from all 25 local government areas of the state and were transported in six scheduled flights.

The successful airlift operation highlighted the collaboration between the Niger State Government, aviation officials, security agencies, medical teams, and travel operators.

According to the state authorities, the smooth movement of the pilgrims reflected proper planning, effective coordination, and dedication from all stakeholders involved in the 2026 Hajj exercise.

Governor Umar Bago praised the officials and agencies that ensured the operation was completed without major challenges.

He described the successful transportation process as a major achievement for the state and commended the efforts of the Niger Pilgrims Welfare Board in handling the logistics of the pilgrimage.

The governor also applauded the 2026 Amirul Hajj and Emir of Agaie, Yusuf Nuhu, for providing leadership and guidance throughout the exercise.

He noted that the cooperation among airport personnel, airline operators, healthcare workers, and security agencies contributed greatly to the orderly movement of the pilgrims.

Officials said the pilgrims departed safely from Minna to Saudi Arabia in preparation for the annual Islamic pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam observed by Muslims worldwide.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting pilgrims from the state and ensuring better welfare arrangements during the Hajj operations.

The airlift exercise is part of ongoing preparations for the 2026 Hajj season, with authorities expressing satisfaction over the peaceful and hitch-free transportation process.
