Olaosebikan Declares Reps Bid in Oyo

Kehinde Olaosebikan - National News

National News – A former chairman of Oluyole Local Government in Oyo State, Kehinde Olaosebikan, has declared his intention to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress, formally entering the race during a party meeting held on Monday in the area.

At the gathering, which drew party leaders and grassroots supporters, Olaosebikan combined his declaration with the unveiling of a newly constructed APC secretariat, describing the project as part of efforts to strengthen party structure and engagement at the local level.

The former aide to late governor Lam Adesina said his ambition is driven by the need to expand development opportunities and consolidate political support for Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He expressed confidence that his candidacy could attract backing beyond party lines, noting that consultations with stakeholders across the constituency had yielded positive signals.

According to him, such cross-party alignment could boost not only his chances but also the electoral performance of APC candidates in the area.

The new secretariat, he added, is designed to provide a more inclusive and functional space for party activities, particularly for youth and women groups who play a growing role in grassroots mobilisation.

The move has been interpreted by some observers as both a political statement and a strategic investment in party loyalty.

Reactions within Ibadan’s political circles have been mixed.

While some party faithful view his early entry as a sign of seriousness and preparedness, others remain cautious, questioning whether early momentum will translate into sustained voter support as internal party contests unfold.

Analysts suggest that his alignment with the administration’s reform agenda could appeal to core supporters, but may also expose him to scrutiny over economic realities affecting constituents.

His promises around education, skills development, and job creation reflect familiar campaign themes, yet their success will likely depend on clear implementation strategies.

As political activities gradually intensify in Oyo, Olaosebikan’s declaration underscores the shifting dynamics within the state, where early positioning and grassroots influence are expected to shape the trajectory of the 2027 elections.
