The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, as the party continues its review of the election results.
Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, met with the President on Friday and told journalists afterwards that the APC was yet to reach a final decision on the outcome of the election.
The APC candidate, who lost to the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, said the party was examining the results and would announce its next line of action after completing the review.
He urged APC members and supporters to remain calm while the process was ongoing.
“For now, the APC is still examining the books, and by the time we spread our sheets, we’ll be able to get back to the public on what our own opinions and what decisions we want to take, but the take-home is that they should be calm,” Oyebamiji said.
Although he did not disclose the specific issues being reviewed or confirm whether the party was considering a legal challenge, he said the APC would communicate its position to the public once the assessment was concluded.
Oyebamiji also appealed for peace in Osun State, stressing that governance and politics should ultimately be about the welfare of the people.
“The most important thing is to run every election with peaceful mind. It is important for us that we Nigerians have to know that government is about people,” he said.
The APC candidate, however, raised concerns over alleged attacks on members of his party following the election.
He appealed to Governor Adeleke to call his supporters to order, warning that continued violence could undermine peace in the state.
“I want to advise the governor that it’s important for him to talk to his people. Violence against our people is not too good, and he needs to talk to them so that each and every one of us can be on the same page,” Oyebamiji said.
He further alleged that fresh attacks occurred in his hometown, Ikire, on Friday morning, claiming that about four or five people were attacked.
According to him, the incidents had been reported to security agencies.
“Even as at this morning, in my own village, Ikire, some were attacked; about four, five people were attacked. We have informed the security operatives accordingly,” he said.
Despite the allegations, Oyebamiji again called on APC supporters to remain peaceful while awaiting the party’s final decision.
His meeting with Tinubu came a day after Governor Adeleke also met with the President at the State House.
Adeleke had subsequently thanked Tinubu for what he described as his commitment to a free and fair electoral process in the Osun governorship election.
