National News – Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed strong confidence that he will secure a second term in office and complete his administration’s projects.

Speaking on Tuesday at the Government House in Umuahia while receiving members of the Old Students Association of the Federal School of Arts and Science, Aba, the governor said the people of Abia would make informed decisions in the 2027 elections.

Otti stated that although political activities such as party primaries and campaigns are approaching, his administration remains focused on governance.

According to him, Abians understand what is beneficial for their future and are unlikely to abandon ongoing development efforts.

He stressed that his government is committed to delivering results, noting that his vision aligns with long-term progress for the state.

The governor also highlighted key achievements in infrastructure and power development.

He explained that the state government had entered agreements to expand electricity supply by integrating additional areas into the Geometric Power network.

This move, he said, would ensure stable power across more local government areas, boost economic activities, and improve living standards.

Otti further revealed plans to strengthen the state’s control over electricity regulation through the establishment of the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Agency.

This step aims to decentralise power management and reduce dependence on the national grid, ensuring more reliable energy distribution within the state.

During the visit, the alumni association praised the governor’s performance and ongoing projects.

They noted improvements in security, infrastructure, and general governance, which influenced their decision to host their bi-annual meeting in Abia.

The group also commended ongoing developments in Aba and Umuahia and pledged continued support for educational initiatives, including the renovation of a hostel in their former school.

Otti appreciated the association’s contributions and encouraged them to sustain their efforts, emphasising the importance of collective responsibility in state development.
