National News – Abia State Governor Alex Otti has expressed readiness to partner with the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) to boost real estate development and governance efficiency in the state.
He made the remarks on Tuesday at the Government House in Umuahia while receiving a delegation led by its President and Chairman of Council, ESV Chief Victor Alonge, who are in Abia for the institution’s 2026 annual conference holding at the International Conference Centre, Ogurube Layout.
The visit, which forms part of the 2026 NIESV annual conference scheduled from April 13 to April 18, brought estate surveyors and valuers to Umuahia to discuss modern real estate trends, policy reforms, land administration, and infrastructure development.
Otti stated that his administration considers professional bodies key partners in achieving sustainable development.
He emphasized that the government has worked closely with estate surveyors and intends to deepen collaboration in housing, asset management, and urban planning.
He directed members of his cabinet, including commissioners for Housing, Lands and Survey, and Agriculture, to strengthen engagement with the institution.
According to him, the partnership will support new initiatives in real estate investment and improve planning for public infrastructure projects across Abia State.
Otti also reiterated plans to build a five-star hotel in Umuahia to enhance hospitality for conference hosting and attract investors and organisations.
Earlier, Dr Victor Alonge said the conference themed “Corridors, Connectivity and Capital: Rethinking Real Estate Development Along Renewed Hope Infrastructure Investments” reflects national development priorities, and appreciated Abia State for hosting the event for the first time.
He noted that professionals in the institution have contributed to policy formulation, housing delivery, and land reforms across Nigeria.
