National News – Governor Alex Otti has reaffirmed that security remains a top priority for his administration in Abia State, stressing that no meaningful development can thrive in an unsafe environment.
Otti made this known on Wednesday during a meeting with the Alumni Association of the Seventh Regular Course of the Nigeria Naval College at the Government House in Umuahia.
The delegation was led by retired Commodore A.O. Bamidele ahead of the group’s planned 40th anniversary reunion in the state.
The governor explained that his government would continue to strengthen the state’s security architecture to guarantee peace, safety, and economic growth for residents and investors.
According to him, security is central to governance and remains critical to the transformation agenda currently ongoing across Abia State.
Otti thanked the association for choosing Abia as the host state for the anniversary celebration, describing the decision as a strong endorsement of the progress recorded under his administration.
He assured the delegation of government support for the successful hosting of the event.
The governor also directed his Special Adviser on Security, retired Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah, to work closely with the organisers to ensure smooth coordination.
Otti added that Ubah was appointed strictly on merit because of his competence and experience in security management.
Speaking earlier, Commodore Bamidele said the delegation visited to formally inform the governor about the reunion and seek his support.
He praised the visible transformation in Umuahia and other parts of the state, noting that positive reports about Abia’s development had spread across Nigeria.
Bamidele further commended Otti for appointing one of their course members as Special Adviser on Security, pledging the association’s support for the administration’s efforts to maintain peace and stability in the state.
