National News – Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, has announced plans to officially launch his re-election campaign on April 27, 2026, ahead of the June 20 governorship election.

The campaign, according to his team, will focus on issues affecting citizens and highlight achievements from his first term in office.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti, the Director-General of the campaign organisation, Cyril Fasuyi, disclosed that grassroots mobilisation has already begun across all wards through door-to-door engagement.

He explained that the campaign aligns with the timetable set by the Independent National Electoral Commission and aims to secure at least 500,000 votes across the state’s 177 wards.

Fasuyi noted that Oyebanji’s re-election bid is anchored on his administration’s record in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.

According to him, roads have been rehabilitated across all 16 local government areas, schools upgraded, and teachers trained, while bursaries have been reinstated for students.

He also claimed that health centres have been renovated and equipped, contributing to improved service delivery statewide.

On governance and transparency, the campaign team highlighted Ekiti’s strong audit ratings and low food inflation, positioning the state as one of Nigeria’s most stable subnational economies.

Fasuyi added that projects such as the Ekiti Knowledge Zone and revived farm settlements are driving economic growth and agricultural productivity.

Addressing inclusivity, he pointed out that women occupy strategic leadership roles within the state government, reflecting a commitment to gender balance.

He further stressed that the campaign would avoid hostility, focusing instead on policies, performance, and future plans.

The campaign organisation urged party members and supporters to maintain peace throughout the election period, emphasizing discipline and issue-based engagement as key strategies to secure victory in the upcoming poll.
