National News – Fatai Buhari, the senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, has empowered over 2,500 constituents in Ogbomoso.
The empowerment programme, held on Friday at Soun Stadium, provided beneficiaries with vehicles, motorcycles, sewing machines, generators, deep freezers, and grinding machines.
The initiative aims to boost small-scale businesses, reduce unemployment, and improve livelihoods across the district.
Speaking at the event, Buhari explained that the programme was part of his ongoing commitment to community development and economic support.
He noted that the empowerment initiative reflects how effective governance can directly uplift citizens.
The lawmaker also praised Bola Tinubu for implementing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said are strengthening the economy and creating opportunities for Nigerians.
According to Buhari, the distribution of resources was designed to help beneficiaries become financially independent and contribute meaningfully to local economic growth.
He added that the programme fulfilled promises made during his campaign, reinforcing trust between elected officials and constituents.
The senator, who has served since 2015 and chairs the Senate Committee on Aviation, reaffirmed his dedication to delivering impactful projects.
Traditional leaders also commended the initiative.
The Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Oyebola, urged beneficiaries to use the items wisely to improve their economic conditions.
Several beneficiaries described the programme as unprecedented, noting its positive impact on their lives and businesses.
Empowerment programmes like this have become common among Nigerian politicians as a strategy to support grassroots development.
These initiatives often provide tools, equipment, and financial support to encourage entrepreneurship and reduce poverty.
