National News – The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, has explained why he will not contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State, despite growing calls from supporters urging him to run.

Speaking in a video message on Sunday, Pate said his decision was driven by the need to serve Nigeria on a broader national scale rather than at the state level.

According to him, residents across Bauchi had encouraged him to join the race, expressing confidence in his leadership.

However, after consulting widely with elders, youths, and political stakeholders, he chose to remain focused on national responsibilities.

He noted that the country currently requires collective contributions from capable individuals in various capacities.

Pate emphasised that leadership is not limited to holding elective office at the state level.

He explained that his current role allows him to impact more lives across Nigeria, particularly in healthcare development, job creation, and support for vulnerable groups such as women and children.

He reassured Bauchi residents that his decision does not diminish his commitment to their welfare.

The minister also pledged to remain politically active by supporting credible and people-oriented candidates who prioritise public service over personal gain.

He stressed the importance of electing leaders with integrity who remain accountable beyond election periods.

In addition, Pate called for continued support for the administration of Bola Tinubu, noting that alignment between federal and state governments would accelerate development.

He urged young people to avoid political manipulation, violence, and drug abuse, encouraging them instead to play constructive roles in nation-building.

Concluding his remarks, Pate expressed gratitude to his supporters and reaffirmed his dedication to improving lives across Nigeria, regardless of political position.
