National News – The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, identified as Otamiri Prince, over the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a female job seeker in Port Harcourt.

The arrest, confirmed on April 12, 2026, followed a complaint lodged by the 24-year-old victim, who reported that she had been lured through an online interaction earlier in January.

According to police investigations, the suspect met the victim on a digital platform and persuaded her to attend a meeting under the guise of a job opportunity.

Upon arrival, she was reportedly deceived and transported to Igwuruta, before being taken by accomplices to a secluded bush area in Ulakwo, Etche Local Government Area.

There, she was allegedly assaulted, raped, and dispossessed of her valuables before eventually being released.

Police spokesperson Blessing Agabe disclosed that the case was reported on April 11, prompting swift action by operatives who leveraged technology-driven investigative strategies introduced under the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

These efforts led to the arrest of the suspect, who has reportedly confessed to the crime.

Items recovered from the suspect include an iPhone, a wig believed to belong to the victim, and other personal belongings.

Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with efforts intensified to apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Olugbenga Adepoju, has urged job seekers and young women to exercise caution when engaging with strangers online.

He advised verifying identities, choosing public meeting locations, and informing trusted contacts before attending any unfamiliar appointments.

The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice and encouraged the public to promptly report suspicious activities through official emergency channels.
