National News – Former presidential aide and Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has shared a video showing his brief encounter with former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The meeting, which happened on Sunday, quickly sparked reactions online after the clip surfaced on social media.

In the 35-second video posted on X, Omokri approached Obi while the former governor stood near a seating area with his luggage and aides.

Omokri called out “Mr. Obi!” before both men exchanged handshakes and short remarks in a calm atmosphere.

The video showed Omokri dressed in a green traditional outfit and matching cap, briefly placing his hand on Obi’s arm during the greeting.

Shortly after the interaction, Obi walked toward the airport departure section with members of his entourage.

Omokri, a known supporter of President Bola Tinubu and frequent critic of Obi on social media, captioned the video by expressing confidence in Tinubu’s re-election chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His post immediately attracted attention from political observers and supporters of both camps.

Many social media users reacted to the airport meeting, with some describing the exchange as respectful despite political differences.

Others accused Omokri of seeking online attention, noting that the moment appeared to be professionally recorded.

The encounter has continued to trend online because of the political rivalry often associated with both men since the 2023 presidential election.

Analysts say the video highlights how political opponents can still maintain civil relationships outside public debates and online criticism.
