National News – Nigerian gospel singer Sola Cymbal is set to host a major praise and worship gathering known as Shabach Encounter in Lagos, bringing together gospel artistes and worshippers for an atmosphere of intense spiritual reflection and celebration.
The event will take place at The Elevation Church in Maryland and is expected to attract between 1,200 and 1,500 attendees from across the state and beyond.
Cymbal, who recently returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom to oversee preparations, said the programme has been carefully organised to deliver a unique worship experience.
According to her, the concert is not just another musical performance but a spiritual gathering aimed at inspiring renewal, strengthening faith, and encouraging personal encounters with God.
Explaining the inspiration behind the programme, the gospel artiste said the concept of “Shabach” comes from Book of Psalms 149:6 and symbolises a loud, triumphant expression of praise believed to release victory and spiritual breakthrough.
She noted that the event is structured to focus on worship, spiritual warfare through praise, and witness through testimonies of transformation.
Cymbal added that unlike many gospel concerts centred mainly on entertainment, Shabach Encounter emphasises participation and spiritual engagement.
According to her, attendees will be encouraged to actively worship rather than remain passive listeners, creating what she described as an environment for personal and collective spiritual experiences.
She also explained why Lagos was chosen as the host city, noting that the state’s diverse population and cultural influence make it ideal for reaching a wide audience.
Cymbal added that while this edition will be held in Lagos, organisers are considering expanding the programme to other Nigerian cities such as Ibadan and Abuja in future editions.
Beyond worship sessions, the event will also include acts of community care, including refreshments and supportive outreach efforts aimed at showing love and appreciation to participants.
While organisers anticipate a large turnout, Cymbal said the true success of the programme will be measured not by numbers but by the testimonies of people who leave strengthened, uplifted, and spiritually renewed.
