Tinubu Committed to Democratic Governance and Rule of Law, Says APC Chairman

National News – Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reaffirmed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to democratic governance and the rule of law following his signing of the Electoral Law of 2026.

The APC chairman made the remarks after attending an interfaith breaking of fast with the President, Vice President Kashim Shettima, party leaders and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council at the State House in Abuja.

Yilwatda described the gathering as a powerful moment of unity among political and religious leaders across Nigeria.

According to him, the event reflected a shared commitment to national development and demonstrated that the country’s diverse backgrounds can serve as a strength rather than a source of division.

He noted that leaders from different faiths and political parties coming together during the fasting period symbolised mutual respect, tolerance and the importance of dialogue in strengthening democratic values.

Yilwatda stressed that Nigeria’s diversity in religion, culture and political affiliation should continue to inspire collaboration for the nation’s progress.

The APC chairman also used the opportunity to commend President Tinubu’s leadership and the policy direction of the current administration.

He said the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” is beginning to show positive signs in the country’s economic landscape, pointing to gradual improvements in key economic indicators and growing investor confidence.

Speaking on electoral reforms, Yilwatda highlighted the President’s assent to the Electoral Law of 2026 as evidence of his respect for democratic institutions.

He explained that the legislation reinforces the constitutional role of the National Assembly and demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.

According to him, signing the bill is an important step in protecting democratic governance, ensuring transparency in elections and deepening public trust in the nation’s democratic institutions.
