National News – Nigerian international striker Victor Boniface has publicly appreciated popular singer Teni for supporting him throughout his difficult injury recovery period following knee surgery earlier this year.

Boniface revealed that the music star frequently checked on him after the operation, describing her gesture as a major source of encouragement during one of the toughest moments of his football career.

The Super Eagles forward, who currently plays for Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga, underwent surgery on January 10, 2026, after suffering severe cartilage damage during a league match in December 2025.

The operation was carried out in Innsbruck, Austria, by renowned surgeon Dr Christian Fink after months of persistent knee pain affected his performances and forced him to end his loan spell early.

Speaking through his official X account, Boniface explained how Teni remained supportive during his rehabilitation process.

According to the striker, the singer repeatedly reached out to monitor his health and recovery progress after surgery.

His appreciation post quickly attracted reactions from football fans and entertainment followers across Nigeria.

Teni, whose real name is Teniola Apata, is widely recognised for hit songs such as “Case,” “Uyo Meyo,” and “Billionaire.”

She gained national fame in 2017 and later received several awards, including the Headies Rookie of the Year prize and the Soundcity MVP Best New Artist award.

In 2022, she was honoured with the Member of the Order of the Niger award for her contribution to Nigerian entertainment and culture.

Boniface has now returned to action after spending more than three months on the sidelines.

He recently made Werder Bremen’s matchday squad during their Bundesliga clash against VfB Stuttgart as the club continues to manage his fitness carefully.

The 25-year-old forward is expected to play in Bremen’s remaining league fixtures as he aims to rebuild form and revive his career after recurring injuries slowed his progress.
