National News – The White House in Washington, D.C., held discussions with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei over rising concerns about the company’s Claude Mythos artificial intelligence system.

The talks reportedly centered on advanced cyber security capabilities, government collaboration, and the broader implications of rapidly evolving AI technology.

Senior US officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, participated in the meeting, which was described as productive and constructive despite ongoing legal and policy tensions.

The engagement follows the release of Claude Mythos, a new AI tool developed by Anthropic that the company says can outperform humans in certain hacking and cyber-security tasks.

The system is designed to detect vulnerabilities in older software code and, in some cases, exploit them autonomously, raising concerns among policymakers about its potential misuse.

The meeting also comes amid a legal dispute between Anthropic and the US Department of Defense over a “supply chain risk” classification, which the company argues was issued unfairly after disagreements about military applications of its technology.

While a federal court has shown partial support for Anthropic’s position, an appeals court declined to block the designation.

The White House said discussions focused on balancing innovation with safety protocols as AI systems become more advanced and widely deployed across sensitive sectors.

Analysts note that the situation reflects growing pressure on governments to regulate powerful AI tools while maintaining technological competitiveness in areas such as cybersecurity and national defence.
