National News – The Plateau State Government has launched a digital employment initiative to create 50,000 jobs through outsourcing.

The programme was unveiled on May 5, 2026, in Jos. Governor Caleb Mutfwang met with Outsource Global executives to formalise the plan.

The initiative targets unemployment by focusing on digital skills and global service delivery.

It aims to position Plateau as a major outsourcing hub. Within one week, over 6,000 applications were received, showing strong demand for tech-driven jobs.

Founder Amal Hassan said Nigeria is gaining global recognition in outsourcing services. She explained that Plateau was chosen after research confirmed its readiness for large-scale operations.

Training and recruitment have already begun.
The programme includes structured training, interviews, and a six-month internship model.

This approach is designed to improve employability and connect participants to jobs. Opportunities will span software engineering, legal services, and accounting.

Director Uzochukwu Eziukwu said the initiative will serve as a talent pipeline. About 2,000 participants are expected to secure international roles.

Others will work in local outsourcing jobs, ensuring steady employment.
Governor Mutfwang stressed that skills matter more than certificates.

He added that the programme allows remote work, enabling wider participation. Even individuals working from home can earn income through the scheme.

The state also partnered with MTN Nigeria to use its Bukuru facility. The centre can accommodate 1,600 workers across shifts. This will support large-scale operations.

Officials say the initiative will boost economic activities across sectors. It is expected to impact housing, services, and the wider digital economy in Plateau State.
