National News – Mustapha Sule Lamido has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Jigawa State after obtaining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form.

The move, announced on Tuesday in Dutse, marks a renewed bid by the former PDP candidate to secure the party’s ticket ahead of the upcoming polls.

Lamido, who previously contested in the 2023 general election, submitted his completed nomination form to the Jigawa State PDP Working Committee and key stakeholders for endorsement.

Addressing party leaders and supporters, he said his decision followed extensive consultations across the state.

He expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to resolve internal challenges and present a strong front for the election.

Explaining why he is running, Lamido emphasized that the PDP remains the most credible platform to address Jigawa’s socio-economic challenges.

He argued that the party’s past governance record demonstrates its capacity to deliver impactful projects and improve citizens’ lives.

According to him, public trust in the PDP remains strong despite political shifts at the national level.

The aspirant also criticised parties that have governed after the PDP, claiming they have failed to meet expectations.

He alleged that current leadership at the national level has worsened economic, security, and social conditions instead of improving them.

Lamido insisted that a return to PDP leadership would restore effective governance and rebuild public confidence.

Highlighting his motivation, Lamido—son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido—said his ambition is driven by a commitment to service, patriotism, and people-oriented leadership.

He called on PDP members and stakeholders in Jigawa to unite behind his candidacy as preparations for the 2027 election intensify.

He concluded by assuring supporters that his campaign would reflect the party’s core values while focusing on development, stability, and inclusive governance across the state.
