National News – The Kano State Police Command has arrested two more suspects linked to the violent attack on the popular Farm Centre GSM Market in Kano, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to seven.
The incident, which occurred on April 28, 2026, reportedly led to the destruction of businesses and damage to vehicles within the busy market area.
Police spokesperson Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to him, the newly arrested suspects were identified as Sadiq Ayuba, 18, from Darmanawa Quarters, and Abdulganiyu Abba, 38, from Mariri Quarters in Kano.
Haruna explained that investigations carried out by security operatives led to the identification and arrest of the suspects through intelligence gathering and discreet monitoring.
During interrogation, Ayuba allegedly confessed that he and other suspects were recruited and paid by a man identified as Mallam Hassan, who is currently on the run, to attack traders and members of the entourage of businessman A A Zaura at the Farm Centre GSM Market.
The police revealed that the attack caused panic in the market, destroyed shops and properties, and damaged a Toyota ambulance reportedly attached to the entourage.
A tricycle belonging to a resident, Shamsuddeen Sani, was also vandalised during the violence.
Authorities further disclosed that all seven suspects were arraigned before Magistrate Court Number 2 in Nomansland, Kano, on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, unlawful assembly, possession of dangerous weapons, and malicious damage.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori assured residents that efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and other sponsors connected to the attack.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing useful information to support police investigations and maintain peace across the state.
